A ZONING LAW FOR HOUSTON TO PROTECT WILDLIFE AND PEOPLE
I REALLY HAVE FOUGHT FOR A ZONING LAW IN HOUSTON. AIR QUALITY IS A DANGER BECAUSE OF THE VERY FAST GROWTH IN POPULATION. WE HAVE NO AREAS FOR WILDLIFE, SAVE ONE, ALL PARK GROWTH IS FOR SPORTS. RECENTLY A GROUP OF CITIZENS LOST A SEVEN-YEAR BATTLE TO SAVE THEIR AREA OF SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES FROM A TREMENDOUS HIGH-RISE.
Why is this important?
YES, I HAVE LIVED IN ONE HOUSE 58 YEARS. THIS IS A SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING GROUP OF SEVERAL THOUSAND HOMES. THE AREA NEXT TO US WAS UP FOR A WONDERFUL ZONING LAW ELECTION MANY YEARS AGO. SPECIAL INTERESTS HIRED LAWYERS TO DEFEAT THE PROPOSAL OF NO BUSINESSES WITH SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLINGS IN THAT AREA. WE LOST. NOW THAT AREA IS CRIME-RIDDEN AND BUSINESSES, WHICH ARE NIGHT CLUBS AND MUCH WORSE. INSTEAD OF REMAINING THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE, WE ARE THE WORST. MY HOME REALLY LOST VALUE. WE HAD PARK AREAS FOR WILD LIFE THAT NEVER WERE REALIZED.
