To: AARP, Be careful whom you speak for

AARP: Poll your members before you speak for us

Seniors: Tell AARP that their position against any changes or reforms to entitlements is just as bull-headed and wrong as that of Republicans who pledge not to support any tax (or revenue) increases.

Why is this important?

I'm insulted that the AARP did not ask me, an 83-year-old member, what I thought about changes to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid as part of any deficit reduction plan that the Supercommittee is charged with providing to Congress by November 23. Actually, I support responsible reform of these entitlements as a vital component of revenue increases. This has also been the position of the major groups that have looked into and made recommendations for deficit reduction (i.e., Rivlin-Dominici; Simpson-Bowles).
