Accountability and Transparency

One problem with legislation is the protection from scrutiny due to the anonymity of the authors of a bill. A zero-cost way to ensure accountability is to put the author's name right on the line that he/she put into the bill. All bills submitted to Congress (both HR and HS) should, on every paragraph, be annotated with the names of the authors of that paragraph. If there is no attribution, the line would be considered invalid and not be eligible to be signed into law. This would ensure transparency and accountability. Pork projects would be reduced and bills shortened and simplified. The good stuff will gain acclaim, the bad stuff will garner shame. Shine the light of truth and watch the roaches run for cover! Tell your representatives to hold themselves and each other accountable, or explain why they need to hide behind anonymity.
