Activision: Stop glorifying violence in video game commercials

The recent "Call of Duty" commercials blatantly glorifies violence by placing celebrities in combat where they gleefully shoot up Las Vegas to the strains of a Frank Sinatra song. We ask Activision and other video game makers to be more mindful of their advertising, to respect that war is not a silly game to be trivialized, and that gamers do not need to be made to think that killing is any more fun than they already do.

Why is this important?

As a father of two children, one entering his school years I have a concern about how the youth in our country encounter extreme violence in film and video games. There are many examples where killing is made to look cartoonishly fun. I realize that a more responsible approach in these mediums will not end gun violence, but that doesn't mean we as individuals shouldn't strive to minimize the bad influences on our impressionable youth.
