Legislators: Stand with the people of your district in support of public education. Governor Cuomo and The State Education Department must stop their bully tactics. They need to eliminate mandates, provide schools their fair share of funding, and stop using inaccurate sound bites to place blame. Our children deserve better.
Why is this important?
NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo continually talks about improving education in the state. All the while he and the State Education Department are tearing the public education system apart piece by piece. By adding costly, unnecessary mandates and cutting funding, schools are finding it impossible to provide the "sound basic education" students are entitled to as per the NYS Constitution. The Legislature needs to stand up to Governor Cuomo and State Ed to stop their bully tactics and reinstate local control.
