Mr. Akins,
Please reconsider the huge distribution costs your company and the Public Utilities Commision of Ohio agreed upon. The small businesses of Ohio cannot survive at the rates your company is delivering, and we understand that you are giving large companies and manufacturers discounts while we are left to carry the burden. Several plants are shutting down across Ohio, which means widespread job loss, and we cannot afford an additional economic downturn like this for the citizens of our great State. Please remember that while your company was ranked on 2011's Fortune 500 list, most of us here are living month to month - even those of us who are fortunate enough to have a family business and property.
Please use your power for good.
Thank you,
Residents of Ohio - Including Small Business Owners and Operators
Why is this important?
The recent spike in power bills from American Electric Power and other distributors who work with AEP has many small businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations across Ohio wondering if they'll be able to stay in business. They came to a deal with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio that was not beneficial to anyone but large corporations in Ohio and AEP.Part of the cause of the doubling rates is due to American Elecbetric Power giving large corporations and manufacturers discounts, while smaller businesses, who do not consistently use a great amount of energy throughout the year, have to carry the expense.
