Air Canada Pilots Association - Nationally Elected MEC Chair

I the Petitioner as an active ACPA Member, Petition the Air Canada Pilots Association - MEC to conduct a Vote of the National Membership on the following question:

Are you in favour of electing the MEC Chair - Nationally by the Membership and have the ACPA Constitution amended accordingly in order to so?

Yes or No.

Why is this important?

In April 2014 Governance Expert Greg Gubitz tabled his recommendations on a way forward for ACPA when it came to Governance Reform. In November of 2014 at Policy Convention after considerable time and member resources the MEC abandoned the Gubitz Recommendations, basically in their entirety. Including the salient recommendation of the Membership electing the MEC Chair - Nationally.

On February 23, 2016 the current MEC is holding a Special Meeting to elect their chosen MEC Chair among themselves. Has the MEC no regard for the costs associated with conducting a two day meeting in a Downtown Toronto Hotel to choose between two MEC incumbents, one being favoured before they even meet? Could this event be conducted over a MEC Conference Call or an Internal Webinar?

Hold your MEC Member's Transparent & Accountable and consider forwarding this ePetition to the VCC Chair. Time is of the essence! We would like to collect a 1000 ePetitions in the next ten days. Not an easy task. We need your help! This original ePetition is only going out to 100 Active Members. If you are in favour of promoting the merits of this ePetition, please forward it on to fellow Member's in your email contact list. Without your help and involvement, this ePetition will fail.

30% or approximately 960 ePetitions are required for the MEC to entertain the request and more importantly to consider Conducting a Vote of the National Membership.

On the reply section of the ePetition it asks for your Name and Address, this is a generic petition form.

This is what is required to validate your e Petition with ACPA:
1. Rank & Name.

In the comments section please include:

2. Base.
3. Membership Number which is your 6 digit employee number.
4. Date of Submission.

Thank you!
