Allow Guns on Campus

In light of recent crime surrounding Georgia’s campuses, support for allowing concealed carry on campus has risen significantly. These campuses are home to thousands of very intelligent individuals who should not have to be concerned with safety while getting their post-secondary education. There is no reason that these bright, young minds should be defenseless against the criminals who prey on students in these supposedly “gun-free” zones. Many campuses have their own police forces dedicated to protecting their students from harm, but it is a fact that the police cannot be everywhere. These law abiding students should not be considered “unsafe” and “irresponsible” as soon as they cross the imaginary line onto a college campus. HB 981 and similar legislation would allow for students, faculty, staff, and visitors holding a concealed weapons permit to legally conceal their firearms on Georgia college campuses. Please support the defense of members of the campus community against criminals who disregard our "gun-free" zones.

Why is this important?

Tell your state representative and Governor Deal that members of the campus community deserve the same right to defend themselves against violent crime both on and off campus.
