Ban sale of all multiple shot repeating firearms. Allow only single shot firearms. Mass killings are possible with many firearms other than military style assault rifles. Any firearm that holds multiple cartridges can be fired repeatedly and quickly to kill or maim many people. Single shot firearms can load only a single cartridge and must be manually reloaded after each shot giving victims time to flee and responders time to intervene. Hunting would be safer as hunters would be more careful of taking a single shot.
Why is this important?
Proposed bans on assault type military firearms will not be effective in preventing mass shootings. Many other semi automatic and even lever or bolt action firearms can hold many cartridges for rapid fire. By allowing only singe shot firearms the danger of mass shootings would be reduced significantly.
