Allow the Bush Tax Cuts to Expire

Fictional Fiscal Cliff:

Dear President Obama: There is much hoopla about the so-called "fiscal cliff," and which, in reality, if anything, is a slope, if that; personally I think it's so much fiction created by jittery speculators and Wall Street and its supporters, mainly the wealthiest conservatives and its counterparts in congress and in the senate. It is important to remember what happened in '09 when you played ball with republicans and blue dog democrats, and upset many of us by giving republicans a better deal than they deserved. Now that you have more power and more of a voice and certainly more public support, it is important to let the Bush tax cuts expire than to make a deal that will only hurt recipients of Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid, all of which are not "entitlements," as all of us, conservatives, too, have paid into. It is only the wealthy and conservative elite in congress and in the senate, all of whom pretty much feel that the middle and especially the lower classes are a drag on the economy. So let's go over the fiscal cliff that we won't, in reality, go over, anymore than when President Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy and Newt Gingrich was warning everyone that it would hurt the economy. If you let the Bush tax cuts expire you will have more leverage. What you should insist on is simple: let taxes on the wealthy remain at Clinton levels and let conservatives bury themselves by not lowering taxes on the less fortunate. I work for Goodwill Industries earning $9.35 an hour and my brother makes about the same, plus tips, at a tasting room pouring and selling wine. I share this because it is important that you know that people with less understand that sometimes less is more. So stick in there, don't give up and don't give in. LET THE BUSH TAX CUTS EXPIRE, even if that means all of us have to pay a little more.

Let The Bush Tax Cuts Expire and Leave Social Security and Medicare Alone, Mr. President
