Allow all eligible citizens of the United States of America to register to vote anytime, including on Election Day. No eligible citizen should be denied the right to vote while the polls are still open.
Why is this important?
This petition would allow the maximum number of citizens to vote. This year my application was denied on the cutoff date. Having a pre-election cutoff date too far in advance of an election may prohibit many qualified individuals from having the opportunity to vote. Hospitalizations, child-care issues, natural disasters, etc. all can cause a delay in registering ahead of time. This year, people were allowed to register on election day in areas affected by hurricane Sandy. This means the technology exists. This option should be available for everyone NOW.
