Please require a GPS tracking device to Wander Guard Bracelets, at Alzheimer's and Dementia facilities. Too many loved ones are walking out of the facilities and dying needlessly because they are unable to find them immediately. These are senseless and avoidable deaths to patients and heartbreaking for families.
Why is this important?
Many Alzheimer's and Dementia Facilities use a Bracelet that sounds an alarm when a wandering patient walks outside. However the Bracelet does not have a GPS tracking device, and if the staff is unable to, or does not act on the alarm immediately, the patient may be at serious risk.
My Mother-in-law who had dementia walked out of a Alzheimer's facility and although an alarm was tripped the staff was not aware of her missing for at least an hour. Despite a massive search including the family, staff, city, county, and State police she was found dead of hypothermia many hours later. She could have been found immediately with a GPS tracking device!
