Be it hereby resolved that we the undersigned call upon you to support a Constitutional Amendment to return control of our democracy to the people of the United States by establishing public funding for all federal elections; overturning the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling that corporations are "persons"; disallowing corporations, unions, foreign governments or any other organizations from contributing to federal campaigns; disallowing wealthy individuals from self-funding campaigns for federal office; limiting donations by U.S. Citizens to individual federal candidates to no more than $100 per candidate.
Why is this important?
The corrupting influence of money in our political system has resulted in the ineffectiveness of our elected officials to address the many serious problems our nation faces because they are beholden to big donors, be they corporations or other lobbyists. We need to make elections and speech FREE, not bought by the highest contributor.
