An Effort to Reduce Soil Degradation

I call for increased research and promotion of use of practices that will lead to soil improvement. This could be done through means like use of compost, no-till agriculture, and use of additives like biochar. There is need for assistance for those carrying out such practices in consideration of future economics when they become more cost-effective.

Why is this important?

Soils are degrading as a result of poor agricltural practices such as overuse, single crop agriculture, and over use of synthetic fertilizers. This will lead to a decrease in agricultural productivity at a time when there is an increase in the world's need for food. I may also lead to problem like the "dust bowl" and increased desertification.
