The recent tragedy in Herkimer, NY highlights the need for bulletproof vests to be issued to highly-trained K-9s working with the FBI or Police at the local and State level. "Ape" was just over two years old, began working in February, and was sent fitted with a camera into a building where an armed and dangerous murderer waited. Ape was shot in the chest and died. We want to require all Police trained K-9s be issued a bulletproof vest for their protection in dangerous or tactical situations.
Why is this important?
The FBI K-9 dog "Ape" was sent into a building where a dangerous and armed murderer waited with nothing more than his teeth for protection. "Ape" was fitted with a camera but what he needed was a bulletproof vest. All K-9s working with officers anywhere should be issued and fitted with bulletproof vests in tactical situations.
