Local prosecutors have an inherent conflict of interest when prosecuting police misconduct due to their dependence on police departments for cooperation, as well as support when running for office. When there is a case of potential police misconduct, we request you appoint an independent prosecutor to take charge of the case.
Why is this important?
Too many police officers are not held accountable when they kill or mistreat Black males. We need independent prosecutors who will do their job.
