Appropriately Penalize Gun Assisted Crime

The possession or use of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the state of Maine shall result in a minimum mandatory 30 year jail sentence and a $100,000 fine.

Why is this important?

The possession or use of a weapon in commission of a crime is always life-threatening, whether the weapon is fired or not. There must be a stiff penalty for this. Current laws do not make anyone think twice before using a gun to threaten or harm someone.
