Are we prepared for climate change? Our public health and safety depend on it.

No matter what you believe is causing global climate change, we can all agree that shifts in our Earth’s temperature and weather patterns have a real impact on public health and safety. From disaster preparedness to disease control, people need to have confidence that local, state, and federal officials understand the effects of climate change and are ready to keep the public safe in all possible situations. Join our calls on the House Energy and Commerce Committee to make sure we’re prepared for the effects about climate change – hold a hearing!

Why is this important?

Maine has led the way in using federal grants to ensure the response by public safety will be effective and match the changing environmental conditions in the wake of climate change.

Maine is no stranger to the challenges of extreme weather because of climate change, and we are a leader on climate change preparedness, but with superstorms like Sandy taking out the Northeast and droughts plaguing the Midwest, the American people deserve to know that our government is prepared for all possible scenarios.
