Arrowhead Student Housing Petition
We, the community members of Flagstaff, stand in solidarity with the residents of Arrowhead Trailer Park to strongly urge the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission to oppose rezoning this area. We believe the city government, Northern Arizona University, and the public should work to establish a guidelines that direct where student housing growth should be built, and at what costs to the community are allowed. We demand that all decisions are paused on the proposed Arrowhead student housing development until the community can formulate a consensus and a clear plan on how accommodate expected student body growth.
Why is this important?
The proposed student housing project would displace 200 people living in the Arrowhead trailer park. Without the low income housing to absorb newly displaced people, their lives will be completely pulled up from under them. If rezoning is approved, the large developer wants to negotiate one-by-one with the homeowners, leaving these families in a position to be taken advantage of. This type of behavior is unacceptable in the community of Flagstaff, and we need to stand up for the most vulnerable people of our community.
