We call for you to apologize for wearing blackface, and recognize it's racist history tied to the degradation of African American culture. As students and members of the community we feel it is unacceptable to ignore the racist implications simply for a costume.
Why is this important?
It is not okay for our elected officials to disregard African American culture and heritage by wearing blackface.
