Avoid the Fiscal Cliff: Suspend the Majority of the Majority Rule in the U.S. House of Representa...

John Boehner,
We the people of the United States respectfully demand that you Suspend the Majority of the Majority Rule and allow the full House of Representatives to vote on pending Senate legislation regarding the so called Fiscal Cliff. The American People have a right to have all their Representatives have a vote, not just the members of a Party who will only allow a vote when they know their Party interests will prevail. This Rule should be suspended, not just for this particular time but for all time.

Why is this important?

Because of the Majority of the Majority Rule, the Speaker of the House of Representatives can block the full House of Representatives of the United States Congress from voting on legislation if the Majority Party will not win the vote. In today's world that means that John Boehner (Speaker of the House), will not allow the house to vote on existing Senate legislation that would avert the Fiscal Cliff and might pass the House of Representatives with a coalition of Democrats and Republicans, because it would not pass with just Republicans voting alone (the Majority of the Majority Rule). This rule perverts the intention of compromise and prevents our elected representatives from doing the people's business. This rule destroys the mechanism of democracy. In the past other House Speakers have presented bills despite the Majority of the Majority Rule, it's time for John Boehner to show that he is not just a Republican, but first and foremost; an American, and let the House vote to avoid the Fiscal Cliff.
