Ban Assault Weaons

After the federal assault-weapon ban expired in 2004, there have been no serious legislative attempts to restore the law, which banned 19 models of assault weapons, including the AR-15 just used in Colorado. We need to have our federal and state legislators, governors, and President Obama permanently ban assault weapons as well as magazine clips more appropriate for fighting in Afghanistan than in our neighborhoods.

Why is this important?

More and more communities are being affected by the psychological fallout from mass shootings. We need to minimize the chance for deranged people to kill as many people as possible during such incidents while still protecting the 2nd amendment.
