Ban gas powered leaf blowers in Santa Barbara County

Gas powered leaf blowers generate high-frequency noise and air pollution that impair the quality of life and the health of the citizens of Santa Barbara County. They are harmful to us and the environment. Over 21 cities in California, including the city of Santa Barbara, agree with this and have banned gas leaf blowers. Please ban gas-powered leaf blowers in Santa Barbara County.

Why is this important?

Many people in Santa Barbara County are still experiencing respiratory, skin, and other symptoms related to the recent fires and mudslides. Clouds of dirt and dust that contain dangerous chemicals and contaminants including, mold, fungus, pollen, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, volatile compounds, toxic metals, insect eggs, and animal feces are propelled into the air by leaf blowers. These tiny toxic particles get into our lungs and have no way of getting out and can cause health problems such as lung cancer, heart disease, strokes, asthma, and other respiratory illnesses.
