Ban Non-therapeutic antibiotics in farm animal feed

Antibiotics are given to farm animals not to keep them healthy, but to fatten them for market. This overuse of antibiotics contributes to bacterial resistance to antibiotics, meaning that antibiotics may be ineffective when used to treat disease. A federal court has just ordered the FDA to reconsider its refusal to ban such use, stating that the agency "failed to address the substantial scientific evidence...[that use of these drugs] poses risks to human health," according to a press release by the National Resources Defense Council.
