James Holmes was able to purchase 6,000 rounds of ammunition over the internet in complete anonymity. Had he been forced to purchase his ammunition from a store, or stores there is a chance someone would have noticed his instability and may have reported him to the police.
It’s simply too risky to sell ammunition over the internet.
