To advocate for the amendment of the Immigration and Nationality Act* to include that: that any person who by conscription or enlistment, enters any branch of the United States Armed forces, shall become U.S. nationals automatically. And that this shall become retroactive to all veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
*The INA currently states that a non-citizen national is “a person who, though not a citizen of the United States, owes permanent allegiance to the United States.” 8 U.S.C. §1101 (a)(22)
*The INA currently states that a non-citizen national is “a person who, though not a citizen of the United States, owes permanent allegiance to the United States.” 8 U.S.C. §1101 (a)(22)
Why is this important?
Immigrants who serve or served in the United State Armed Forces deserve to be U.S. Nationals! Many former Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force Veterans who were Green Card holders have been deported or are currently in the process of being deported. Help them fight the immigration system to be rightfully called U.S. Nationals.
