Although we wish Sec. Clinton a speedy and full recovery, we believe that Bernie Sanders immediately needs to be identified as an alternative candidate, in the event that Sec. Clinton must relinquish her candidacy due to ill health, or any other reason. In the Primaries, Sanders received the most delegates, after Clinton, establishing his legitimacy as a strong candidate to win the Presidency for Democrats.
Why is this important?
Throughout the Democratic primaries, Senator Bernie Sanders was enormously popular, and all polls showed that he was in a better position to beat Donald Trump than was any other candidate. The signers of this petition absolutely do not want to risk a Trump presidency, and therefore we feel it is crucial that Sen. Sanders be the replacement candidate, should Hillary Clinton need to step down as the Democratic candidate, due to health or any other reason.
