Bernie Sanders Oppose the Proposed Pebble Mine

I urge you to stand with the more than 80 percent of Bristol Bay residents
-- including its Native peoples and commercial fishermen -- and oppose the
proposed Pebble Mine project in Alaska.

The EPA has determined that the Pebble Mine would pose "catastrophic" risks
for Alaska’s Bristol Bay. Bristol Bay is an irreplaceable natural
ecological treasure. It is home to our First Peoples communities, and the
world's largest wild salmon fishery - a $480 million annual sustainable
industry that produces half of the world's supply of sockeye salmon and
14,000 full- and part-time jobs. The Pebble Mine on the other hand promises
only 1,000 permanent jobs.

The colossal gold and copper mining operation would generate an estimated
ten billion tons of waste stored in an earthquake zone right at the
headwaters of Bristol Bay's famous salmon runs. We cannot risk Bristol Bay
go from ecological jewel to the kind of polluted, devastated dead zone that
surrounds other giant copper mines.

Please let us know that as President you would direct the EPA to use its
authority under the Clean Water Act to stop the Pebble Mine. An
announcement this week would gain the widespread support of Alaskans before
the Alaska Democratic Primary on 3/26.

Why is this important?

Its only proponents are the followers of the billionaire class whom he is against them having it all.

For the sake of this and all future generations of Americans, please stand up to them and reject this assault on our natural heritage. By doing so, you will secure a lasting environmental legacy preceding your administration.
