A few congressmen are attempting to sneak in a $1 trillion farm bill into the deficit reduction package. This is a wasteful farm subsidy program with large handouts to commodity farmers who will enjoy higher price guarantees and gold-plated insurance options. Taxpayers should not be asked to fund this and the back-door approach is undemocratic. Legislation should be presented to Congress and debated before the voting public.
