In order to eliminate gargantuan bills filled with ear marks and concessions to special interests that no one, including policy makers, can fully comprehend. This petitions asks for a bill to limit the size of all bills to less than the size, in words, of the constitution, including its amendments.
Why is this important?
In response to the way in which a powerful bill like the "Affordable Care Act" was watered down in committee to reflect the interests of the medical insurance and pharmaceutical interests, it would be best to limit the size of bills and acts. The Affordable Care Act contains 234,812 words, the constitution 7,000 words. The constitution has been the contract between our people and its government for over 200 years.
