Body Armor

There is no viable reason for a civilian to own body armor that was created to protect military personnel and law enforcement in situations where they may have an enemy combatant or a situation involving a criminal act where they are being fired upon with any form of firearm.
The only purpose for this body armor is to protect a human from gunfire. Therefore, a civilian has no reasonable expectation for the need to wear this protection unless they have a real expectation that they are entering a situation where they will be fired upon.
There is no reasonable expectation that a civilian will accidentally encounter a hostile situation where body armor would be needed.
Therefore, we are petitioning the Congress of the United States of America to enact a ban prohibiting civilians from owning body armor. We request that President Barack Obama sign this legislation when presented to him.

Why is this important?

To pass legislation to outlaw the owning of body armor by civilians.
