Boycott County Fair Elephant Cruelty
Please join me in trying to stop the New Hanover County Fair and Expo from making a profit from the abuse of the majestic elephant. Please sign this petition and boycott these events. Did you know that elephants used for entertainment spend an average of 26 hours straight chained. In their native homelands, the animals you see in shows are free to walk and run, choose lifetime companions, and raise their families. Tragically, these animals are held captive and are forced to perform confusing acts night after night for 48 to 50 weeks every year. In order to get these animals to perform stressful acts, trainers use whips, sticks, and bullhooks with metal tips that are jabbed into elephants’ sensitive skin on their thighs and behind their ears.
Please help put an end to elephant cruelty. Add your name to the petition urging Cape Fear Fair and Expo to end the cruel confinement and beatings of captive elephants by immediately retiring them to accredited sanctuaries. This petition will also be sent to New Hanover county officials to urge them to stop allowing this in our county.

Why is this important?
I was deeply saddened last weekend at the county fair by the sight of the two elephants that were forced to perform strange and unnatural acts for a cheering crowd. I saw sadness in their eyes and felt moved to do something about it.
