When the winter games begin in Sochi, the singers from Pussy Riot will still be in labor detention camps. The Russian government has banned all gay organizations at Sochi and cannot guarantee for the safety of GLBT athletes or spectators. In an atmosphere like that, how can the world celebrate Olympic peace?
All fair-minded countries should threaten Russia with a boycott of these winter Olympics until such time that the Russian government can guarantee safety for all and accept criticism as a democracy.
