To: The Colorado State House, The Colorado State Senate, and Governor Jared Polis

Bring election day voter registration to Colorado.

Colorado can boast an impressive 67% voter turnout in 2012, but we can do better than that. Election day voter registration isn't only convenient for many voters, but has shown to increase voter turnout by 10 - 17%. Our democracy is not complete until everyone has registered to vote and has the opportunity to decide the future leadership of our country.

Secretary of State Scott Gessler has openly opposed election day voter registration. Gessler claims that it will open the door for fraudulent registration and errors, but instances of this have been few and far between in states that currently allow this form of voter registration. To deny Colorado citizens election day voter registration gives weight to a vast minority of voters who try to cheat the system.

Why apply rules to all of us to punish the less than 1% of fraudulent voters? Sign this petition to tell your local leaders: election day voter registration is right for Colorado.

Why is this important?

Permit election day voter registration in the state of Colorado. Colorado boasts one of the best voter turnouts in the country, but our Democracy is not complete without everyone participating. Election day voter registration will ease the process of voting.
