Require cable providers to allow their customers to opt-out of sports channels/programming and the related fees. If professional sports fans love sports this much, let THEM pay these outrageous fees. The NFL had over $9 Billion in 2011 revenue yet remains a registered 501(c)(6) non-profit; further evidence that these outrageous sports licensing fees amount to a "sports tax" on the American people.
Why is this important?
According to the Wall Street Journal (March 8, 2010), roughly __40%__ of your cable television bill pays for professional sports licensing fees. The NFL's 2011 revenue (a 501(c)(6) non-profit that pays no taxes) was over $9 Billion! If you don't watch professional sports, why pay for it?!
