CALIFORNIA ASSEMBLY: Stop Big Oil from GUTTING CA’s landmark climate change legislation
Please VOTE NO on Big Oil-backed Assembly Bill 69 -- which would GUT California’s landmark cap-and-trade legislation before it is fully implemented in January 2015.
Why is this important?
Big Oil front groups have launched a statewide misinformation campaign to rattle the Legislature and delay the implementation of CA's landmark cap-and-trade program, Assembly Bill 32. And it’s working!
But this month, around a dozen CA Democrats, led by Assembly Member Henry Perea (D), introduced a bill that could KILL California’s groundbreaking solution to reducing carbon emissions and help protect Big Oil’s bottom-line before the bill goes into full effect in January.
California’s landmark cap-and-trade law is a significant solution to the imminent threat of climate change and takes serious measures to reduce greenhouse gases, while creating jobs and generating millions of dollars in revenue. If California can succeed, it will act as model legislation for the rest of the country, even the world.
Big Oil’s misinformation campaign claims that delaying the roll-out of AB 32 will protect the poor and middle class, but the truth is that climate change will impact lower-income communities even more harshly than wealthier communities.
