Calling All Clergy To Stand up to Congress

Brad and I are extremely outrage at Congressional Republicans in and across the country who are responsible for shutting-down the government, their reckless and irresponsible scheme would put Social Security checks for American senior citizens at risk, threaten veterans benefits for our men and women in uniform, and delay many government programs vital to the middle class and delay student loans all in the name of a Tea Party crusade to shut down the government and derail The Affordable Care act,” . “How many marginalized Americans will be hurt before Republicans finally denounce this radical right wing crusade to refight the health care battles of the past and devastate our national and global economy?
Republican/Tea Party Government Shutdown Could Impose Financial Hardships on our Military and Civilian Personnel. Under a government shutdown, nearly 1.4 million active duty military personnel two of which or our family members would not be paid for their work until after the shutdown ends. Additionally, according to the Department of Defense, nearly half of the civilian workforce would not be paid during a government shutdown. This is immoral and disrespectful to American voter’s. For the bible says pay unto ever man and women what is due!!

Why is this important?

As Ministers of the Gospel Of Christ we are required to demand justice....Luke 4:16-19 16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke is called a skilled writer and wrote to send a message to all people. His cultural identity is that of a Gentile (not of Jewish origin). The center of this story is about proclaiming hope in a tangible way for the all people of God. That changes circumstances and challenges systems that create unjust social and political policies. This verse speaks to my call because of the need for just policies on contemporary issues like gun control, poverty and education and this Government shutdown.
