Victims of catastrophic injury or disease, unable to work, should have state and federal benefits raising their income to no less than the poverty level. The budget should come from the tax on marijuana, California's biggest cash crop. Patients for whom voters first legitimized marijuana should be first in line to receive financial support from the expanding cannabis industry.
Why is this important?
People I know have cancer, cannot work because of chemo side effects, have spent their savings, sold their property, and may become homeless. Their friends' help has reached its limits. Taxing the cannabis industry to relieve the financial cruelty of cancer.
