Carole Smith Return Your Raise to Help Students in Poverty

It is unfair for tax payers to pay to increase the superintendent's salary from $193,000 to $247,000, while one out of four PPS students lives in poverty. Most Oregonians and tax payers have been struggling with poverty, stagnant wages and record inequality. Why does anyone making $193,000 on the public dime, even need a raise and an additional 166% increase in tax sheltered monthly payments? There are students who don't have needed school supplies, proper nutrition at home, clothing or even shelter. Please return your money to a fund to go directly to students in need!

Why is this important?

There are too many more reasons to add for this request that petition signers will add. Please be inspired by this example. http://nationswell.com/raymond-burse-kentucky-state-university-president-pay-cut/
