Fairly resolve the contract issues between Anthem and CCMC—and do it NOW. Nothing less than the very health and well-being of our children is at stake.
Why is this important?
On Monday, April 16, 2012, the contract between Anthem and Connecticut Children's Medical Center expired. Because contract negotiations have broken down between the two entities over the costs of services at CCMC, it appears that it may not be renewed.
This affects many families in Connecticut in a very real and personal way. Consider the thousands of underprivileged children with Husky/Anthem healthcare through the State, who receive regular, preventive medical care at CCMC's Charter Oak Clinic. Consider the number of chronically ill children who require specialized care that their pediatricians cannot provide.
While these two Goliaths duke it out over money, it is the young patients and their families who will pay the price.
