Despite indisputable evidence to the contrary, the CDC will not recognize the existence of chronic Lyme Disease, only acute Lyme. CDC calls it Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome.
Why is this important?
I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease this year and I know it exists. I am an RN and have medical training. It is a growing problem and can be spread by other vectors than deer ticks. I have had the disease most of my life, and didn't even know it until this past year when I became symptomatic and debilitated. I am beginning to respond to treatment. Until the CDC recognizes it as a disease, not enough funding will be put into research to understand it and find a cure.
