The US is the only major country in the world still adhering to an archaic system of measurements. Our neighbors Canada and Mexico and the US scientific community have long ago changed to the metric system. Progressives like President Obama may be able to bring about this change and help international travelers and trade.
Why is this important?
President Carter was about to introduce the Metric System and the country was geared up for it when the new President Reagan called it "un-American" and scuttled the change-over. It is high time our country abandons the present medieval and complicated system of measurements.
