Charge Vincent Battiloro as an Adult for the Murders of Isabella Salas and Maria Niotis
The community of Union County is grieving the devastating loss of two young women, Isabella Salas and Maria Niotis, whose lives were violently taken. Their families — and our entire community — deserve accountability, transparency, and justice that reflects the severity of this tragedy.
The alleged perpetrator, 17-year-old Vincent Battiloro, is accused of committing acts of extreme and deliberate violence. These are not youthful mistakes; they are adult crimes.
He will turn 18 in less than a month — an age that fully meets the standard of adult accountability. Charging him as a juvenile would fail to recognize the gravity of what occurred and would risk denying the victims, their loved ones, and our community the justice they deserve.
He will turn 18 in less than a month — an age that fully meets the standard of adult accountability. Charging him as a juvenile would fail to recognize the gravity of what occurred and would risk denying the victims, their loved ones, and our community the justice they deserve.
We, the undersigned residents of Union County and beyond, urge the Union County Prosecutor’s Office to seek adult criminal charges against Vincent Battiloro now, before his upcoming birthday. Justice must not be diminished by a technicality of timing.
When minors commit violent crimes that result in the loss of innocent life, the justice system must reflect the seriousness of those actions. Charging this suspect as an adult ensures that the full weight of the law applies, that the victims’ voices are heard, and that the community’s trust in our judicial process is upheld.
We call on Prosecutor William A. Daniel and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office to act decisively. Justice delayed or diminished is justice denied.
Why is this important?
Two young lives were cut short in an act that has shaken our entire county. Isabella and Maria will never return home, and their families will live with this loss forever. Our community cannot allow such acts to be met with leniency or diminished accountability simply because the accused is under 18 — especially when he will reach legal adulthood within weeks.
This case represents more than a single prosecution — it’s a reflection of how seriously we take violence, safety, and justice in Union County. We stand together for fairness, for truth, and for the lives of those we’ve lost.
