Charlotte-Mecklenburg marijuana rationality reform petition

We the People of Charlotte-Mecklenburg demand that our city stop arresting and prosecuting non-violent consumers of Marijuana, and instead refocus it's law enforcement resources to more effectively combat violent crime.

We urge the city council to pass an ordinance making marijuana arrests the lowest police priority within the city of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, and we specifically request that an ounce or less (30grams) of cannabis be effectively decriminalized within the area.

Why is this important?

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s annual Uniform Crime Report 2010, marijuana arrests now comprise more than one-half (52 percent) of all drug arrests in the United States.
