Financial institutions should honor the terms of a check by not charging the payee a fee for cashing a check drawn on its accounts.
Why is this important?
When a person writes a check, they are requesting their bank which holds a person's money, to pay a sum certain to another person (or entity). Sometimes banks violate the terms of the check by charging a service fee to follow the order. This violates the terms of the check. This is not the same as going to a bank that is not holding the funds.
