Choose How They Use (Your Taxes)
I hereby affirm that I support the notion that citizens need ways to unite more easily behind causes they support.
I hereby affirm that I support the notion that the following mechanism should be instituted for citizens (taxpayers) to register that support with each tax payment they make.
A. Our governments at all levels (Federal, State and local) should make it easy for (human) taxpayers to earmark up to 5% of their taxes to designated non-profit organizations whose causes they support.
B. This should be possible to do online, at the same time tax returns are filed electronically with the taxing body automatically transmitting designated payment to the earmarked non-profits after the taxes are paid.
C. The automated online system should not only direct the taxing body to transfer the designated funds to the earmarked non-profit, but it should let the taxpayer know that it's request was received and implemented and should let the non-profit know of the earmark for them, the amount and the contact information of the taxpayer that earmarked the payment to them.
D. The eligibility of an organization to receive earmarked tax funds should be contingent only on said organization's willingness to transparently post its finances online for all supporters to see. Individual taxpayers could choose to show or hide the amount of their individual tax designation to the organization.
E. The ability to designate up to 5% of your tax revenue to specific organizations would be in addition to the current deductibility of contributions to approved non-profit organizations.

Why is this important?
Petition to allow citizens to earmark 5% of their tax payments (to Federal, State and local government) to designated non-profits.
