Churches participating in political activity should lose tax exempt status.

The IRS states that one of the rules a church must follow to maintain its tax exempt status is not to "attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates."(Section 501 (c)(3) Internal Revenue Code)

Though many may avoid the first caveat by claiming political activities do not comprise a 'substantial' part of their activities, they regularly break the second part.

This petition calls for an investigation by the IRS into the exempt status of any church in violation of the rules required to maintain tax exempt status and repeal such status of any church or charitable organization in violation.
