Citizens Bank's New Checking Account Options Are Unacceptable
Tell Citizens Bank these checking account options "impact the most vulnerable, who have the least capacity to meet minimum balances and avoid the fees," and if they are not revised you will move your money elsewhere.
Why is this important?
"The big banks have been imposing a back-door fee by raising the minimum balance required to qualify for a fee waiver on checking accounts. If you don’t keep a large buffer of cash in your checking account, you’ll have to fork over an extra $10 or more a month for account maintenance fees." And now, Citizens Bank of Las Cruces is following suit.
The bad news gets even worse... the first of three options, "Easy Checking," allows you only 5 free checks a month! You'll pay 50 cents a check for each additional one you write. Can you imagine?
