In the wake of the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO, and so many other police shootings, we call on our Legislative and Executive branches to work together to create a national database that compiles police action resulting in injury or death. A database that is easily accessible and statistically organized by location, gender, race & mental health is necessary to create a much needed sense of transparency and accountability in our nation's police force.
Why is this important?
We are tired of watching our young people attacked and murdered by the very men and women we employ to serve and protect us. We all have a right to know how frequently the police employ brutal methods on the job and along what race lines this is happening. By creating a national database, we are creating the tools we need to study the problem on a national level in order to come to workable solutions in our individual communities.
