We, the undersigned, believe a constitutional amendment is vital to stop the unlimited flow of corrupting money into our elections. In the House of Representatives there are now 10 different constitutional amendments that have been proposed, each seeking to overturn Citizens United. House Joint Resolution 34 from Congressman Deutch stands out for its scope and clarity. It has 56 cosponsors. With scalpel-like precision, this bill gives Congress and the States very explicit powers to limit funding of elections. It limits financial contributions to natural persons only. It expressly permits Congress and the States to make laws establishing campaign finance systems, laws requiring public disclosure of all contributions, and laws preventing excessive expenditures from all sources including the candidates themselves. Dear Representatives Joseph Courtney, Elizabeth Esty and Jim Himes, we are asking you to cosponsor this excellent bill: House Joint Resolution 34.
Why is this important?
We believe a constitutional amendment is vital to stop the unlimited flow of corrupting money into our elections.
